If the gym has never quite fitted around your life, online personal training flips the problem on its head. Instead of bending your week around opening hours, classes and a commute, your coaching bends around you. With Optimo Coach, you get a fully personalised plan, expert guidance and genuine accountability delivered to your phone, wherever you happen to be, from a flat in Bethnal Green to an office in Dubai.
This page explains how our remote fitness coaching works, what it costs, who it suits and the evidence behind it, so you can decide whether online coaching is the right route to your goals. We coach people across London in person and clients worldwide online, combining tailored training, nutrition support and steady, human accountability rather than a generic app and a PDF.
Curious whether online coaching would work for you? The first step is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation.
What Is Online Personal Training, and How Does It Work?
Online personal training is one-to-one coaching delivered remotely. You receive a training programme built specifically for you, nutrition guidance that fits your life, and regular check-ins with a qualified coach through video calls, messaging and a progress-tracking app. It is not a library of pre-recorded workouts; it is a real coaching relationship, just without the gym walls.
The Optimo process is straightforward. It starts with a free, confidential consultation to understand your goals and current fitness level, followed by a fitness assessment and a taster session so you can feel how we work before committing. From there your coach builds your plan, you train on your schedule, and we adjust as you progress. If you would rather sample it first, you can begin with a free online session.
Why Choose Online Coaching Over a Traditional Gym Trainer?
For a lot of people, remote coaching simply removes the obstacles that derail good intentions. There is no commute, no waiting for equipment and no self-consciousness in a crowded weights room. You train where you feel comfortable, at a time that works, with a plan that adapts around work, family and travel rather than competing with them.
It tends to be more affordable too, because there is no gym rent or travel baked into the price. That lower cost opens up expert guidance to people who might otherwise have been priced out of one-to-one coaching. Crucially, distance is no barrier to quality: your coach tracks your numbers, reviews your form on video and keeps you accountable just as closely as they would in person. Here is how the two approaches compare.
| Factor | Online Coaching | In-Person Training |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lower; no gym or travel overheads | Higher per session |
| Flexibility | Train any time, anywhere | Fixed to appointments |
| Location | Home, park or any gym worldwide | One fixed venue |
| Accountability | App tracking and regular check-ins | In-session only |
| Best for | Busy, self-driven, value-focused people | Those wanting hands-on supervision |
Prefer a blend? Many Londoners pair remote coaching with occasional face-to-face sessions. You can compare those options on our in-person training and at-home training in London pages.

Our Online Transformation Programmes
Everyone arrives with a different starting point and timeline, so we offer programmes to match. Whether you want a focused month to build momentum or a full three-month body transformation, there is a structured path for you.
| Programme | Duration | Ideal For |
|---|---|---|
| 30-day kick-start | 1 month | Building habits and early momentum |
| 60-day programme | 2 months | Visible strength and physique change |
| 90-day transformation | 3 months | A complete, sustainable lifestyle change |
The three-month route is our most popular because it is long enough to embed habits that genuinely last. Within it, we coach toward specific goals: a fat to fit plan, skinny to muscle coaching, dedicated weight loss, and tailored male and female training.
Online Glute and Booty Building Programmes
One of our most requested specialisms is glute and booty building, and it works exceptionally well online because the programming is progressive and the results are easy to track week to week. Our coaches design a focused plan around glute development, paired with the nutrition needed to support muscle growth, all delivered remotely so you can train at your local gym or at home.
Explore our 3-month glute transformation, or the London-specific programmes for glute building in London, Bethnal Green and Canary Wharf. You can also work with a dedicated glute and booty building personal trainer, read our nutrition guide for growing your glutes, or see the cost of a glute transformation programme.
Coaching Built Around You
No two clients are the same, so our online coaching flexes around your circumstances and identity. We offer dedicated support for men and women, for expats living abroad, for Muslim and Arabic-speaking clients, for time-pressed CEOs and entrepreneurs, and for older adults through our senior coaching.
We also coach toward clearly defined goals, including female fat loss, women’s strength training, body toning and lean muscle, core and abs, confidence and self-esteem, and programmes for complete beginners, busy women and women who dislike the gym.
How Much Does Online Personal Training Cost?
Online coaching is one of the most cost-effective ways to access expert guidance. Across the UK in 2026, structured online programmes typically run from around £70 to £250 a month, with the exact figure depending on how much support and personalisation you want. At Optimo, standard online coaching, including a monthly plan, weekly check-ins and app tracking, starts from a lower monthly fee, while premium coaching adds unlimited messaging, video form feedback and detailed nutrition support.
| Coaching Level | Typical Monthly Cost | What’s Included |
|---|---|---|
| Standard online | From £49 per month | Monthly plan, weekly check-ins, app tracking |
| Premium online | £149–£249 per month | Unlimited messaging, video form checks, full nutrition |
For a full breakdown by programme length, see our cost guides for the 4-week, 8-week and 12-week transformations, the main personal training cost page, and our meal plan cost. Structured eating pairs naturally with any plan; see our meal prep guidance.
Does Online Personal Training Actually Work?
It is a fair question, and the evidence is reassuring. Digital and remote coaching has moved firmly into the mainstream. In the American College of Sports Medicine’s 2026 Worldwide Fitness Trends survey, drawn from 2,000 fitness professionals, wearable technology ranked as the number one global trend, with mobile exercise apps in the top five. The same report notes that nearly half of US adults now own a fitness tracker or smartwatch, and more than 70 per cent of wearable users act on their data to adjust training or recovery. The tools that make online coaching effective are now everywhere.
What matters most, though, is consistency, and that is where coaching earns its place. The national health picture shows why support matters. The most recent Health Survey for England, published in January 2026, found around 30 per cent of adults living with obesity and roughly 66 per cent overweight or obese, the highest on record, while Sport England data shows nearly one in four adults is inactive. A coach who keeps you accountable, week in and week out, is one of the most reliable ways to close the gap between intention and action.
How much exercise should you actually be doing?
The NHS recommends adults aged 19 to 64 complete at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity each week, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity, plus muscle-strengthening work on at least two days. A good online programme is built to help you hit those targets consistently rather than in occasional bursts.
In practice, we often suggest training around four days a week, with strength work on most of them, adjusted to your goals and recovery. Your exact plan is set at your assessment.
Beyond the physical, regular activity supports heart health, sleep, energy and mood. Plenty of our clients come for fat loss or muscle and stay for the confidence and steadier energy that consistent coaching brings.

Online Personal Training: Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I exercise?
It depends on your goals, but a good general target is around four days a week, with strength training on at least three of them and roughly 150 minutes of moderate activity across the week, in line with NHS guidance. Your coach sets the precise plan after your assessment.
When will I see results?
Everyone responds differently, but many people notice changes within two to four weeks, especially in energy, strength and mood before the mirror catches up. Consistency, sleep and nutrition all influence the timeline.
Can I just do cardio?
Cardio is great for heart health and supports weight loss, but combining it with strength training delivers better, more lasting results. The most effective plans blend both.
Do I need a gym or equipment?
Not necessarily. We can build effective programmes for a full gym, a home setup or minimal kit. Your plan is designed around whatever you have access to.
Should I train strength or cardio first?
If fat loss is the priority, doing strength work before cardio can help. Otherwise, order comes down to your energy levels and preference, as long as you are consistent.
